LARGE PROPERTY SALE.
[By Telegraph.] [raou oca cork_b-*on_<kN-.] DUNEDIN, January 26. Messrs Beid, Maclean and Co., acting as agents for Mr E. Menlove, of Windsor Park, Oamaru, report having sold the part of that estate known as Balmoral, consisting of 2600 acres of rich limestone land, to William Aitken, of Albert Park, Victoria, for _3_1,200.
The purchaser of the Windsor Estate, near Oamaru, is Mr William Aitken, a very old colonist of Victoria. He used to be a squatter Oh the Gottlbourne River twenty-five years ago. He afterwards became a miller and grain buyer, and amassed a fortune. He is a gentleman, among many wealthy •Victorians, who it was stated would visit New Zealand during this season and buy laud, dividing their risks between Victoria and New Zealand. Mr W. Aitken leaves his son to become a permanent resident in the colony and look after the estate. The transaction, it may be mentioned, was for cash, and may be looked upon as one result favorable to New Zealand and the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition.
