LINWOOD TOWN BOARD.

An_ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Monday, at 7.30 p.m. PresentCommissioners Bergh, Atkinson, Jameson, W. Smith, Goodman, and Dombrain. An apology was received for the absence of the.Chairman. Commissioner Bergh was voted to the chair. Letters were read —From the Gas Company, reporting lamps found extinguished. Received. From Selwyn County Council, asking for payment of balance of contribution to warthospitals and charitable aid. Resolved that £35 be paid on account. From Mr J. F. Kinsey, re New Zealand Exhibition, and asking the Board to collect subscriptions. Resolved that Mr Kinsey's letter bo acknowledged, and that he be informed that the matter shall have the Board's attention. From Mlnisterf or Public Works, notifying the abolition of the Department. The Finance Committee's report was then read. Clause 1, being an interim report on the loan question for concrete channelling, was not complete, owing to the Committee nob having been able to ascertain the rate of interest at which the money could be obtained. Clause 2 the Committee recommended that the Board should by "special order "adopt the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1886. Clause 3, receipts; since last meeting, £134 3s 2d ; credit cash; balance, £135 8s Id. Sundry accounts were' recommended for payment. The consideration of clause 1 was held over until next meeting, pending further information. Clauses 2 and 3 were adopted. Resolved that a special meeting "f the Board beheld on February 4th ai /.15 p.m. for purpose of passing a resolution to adopt the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886. Some orders for cutting gorse hedges were made, and' the Board sat as the Local Board of Health. The Inspector's report was read and adopted. The Clerk was directed to take proceedings against a ratepayer for persisting in the burial of nigbtsoil con-, trary to the by-law. The meeting then terminated.
