THE NEW PLYMOUTH R.M.
[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.}
NEW PLYMOUTH, January 17. Mr Samuel's letter to the Minister of Justice, relative to tke charges against the R.M., is published in the Herald to*day, in which Mr Samuel saye great indignation is felt by all right-minded and respectable persons at the attacks made. He goes on to say there are in this community some two or three persons of the vilest character, who are utterly unscrupulous, and possess cunning and audacity, who have for several years past tried to influence the decisions of the Courts here in their favor against the respectable portion of the community. The object of these people is to get Mr Bawson removed, with the hope of getting a more pliable or timid Judge in his place, who, with the fate of his predecessor before him, may be subject to their influences in future. The letter is a long one, and, in conclusion, he asks that the names of the " burgesses " who waited on the late Mayor be obtained and published. , • .
