ALLEGED INFRINGEMENT OF PATENT.

[press association telegram.] WELLINGTON, January-17;

An action has began before the Supreme Court in which the proprietor of a line of business running in opposition to the Tramway Company, sues the latter for J67500 damages by infringement of a patent for cars suitable to run either on or off rails. The plaintiff gave evidence. The Manager of tie Tramway Company after asking what he would charge for a royalty to use these cars, told him he was going to have a number built, whether the plaintiff liked it or not, and as the Company had showed themselves strong enough to get an Act passed in their interest last session, he had no doubt they *ould have influence enough. to prevent >iim. doing anything in the matter. An amended statement of claim was put in reducing the claim to £1000. After hearing the evidence of plaintiff, the case was adjourned until Wednesday next.
