The Union Company's steamer Wakatipu, Captain Wheeler, arrived at 7.30 aun* yesterday from Sydney via Wellington. Her purser reports leaving Sydney on 4th January at 4 a.m., cleared Sydney Heads at 4.43 p.m., abreast Cape Farewell on the Sth at 6 p.m., Stephens* Island at midnight, and arrived at Wellington On the Sth at 7 ajn. .Left again at 2.30 p.m., and arrived here as stated above. Experienced •trong westerly winds and squally weather accompanied with rain and heaw sea for the first two days, thence variable winds accompanied with fine weather to arrival. At L3op.m. she steamed for Dunedin. The Union Company's steamer Rotonta, Capt-Neville, arrived at 7.20 a.m. yesterday from Nelson, Picton, and Wellington. Her purser, Mr Thomas Patterson, reports leaving Nelson at 1.15 p.m. on the Bth, called at Picton, and arrived at Wellington at 6.30 a.m. on the Uth. Sailed again at 3.10 p.m., and arrived here as stated above. Experienced light variable winds, accompanied with fine weather, through out. At 1.30 p.m. she left fur Akaroa and Dunedin.

The Union Company's steamer Waihora, Capt. Popham, arrived at 11 a-m. yesterday fromDunedin. Her purser reports leaving Dunedin at 5 p.m. on 9th, and arrived here as stated above. Experienced fresh head wind and thick wcatherjnpjthe coast. Last night she steamed for Northern ports. The Waihora has taken up the Tarawera's running, the latter vessel being kept in Dunedin to prepare for the West Coast; excursion.

The steamer Janet Nicoll, Captain Henry, arrived at 11.30 a.m. yesterday from Oamaru. Herniate reports leaving Oamaru at 6 p. no. on 9th, and arrived here as stated above Experienced fine weather throughout. FoxKaikoura the 5.3. Jane Douglas left on her usual weekly trip last night. At 10.30 a.ra. yesterday the origantine Clansman, sailed for Rockhampton with a cargo of produce from this port. The schooner Zior sailed for Timaru yesterday evening, at which port she loads for TacanakL
