GERMANY AND SAMOA.
[PEE press association.] Received January Mb, 9 p.m, Bh-__?, January 8. The newa that Germany had lost seven— ' men in the recent fight at Samoa created a painful sensation in this city. The Press, in referring to the difficulty in Samoa, expresses a hope that America will end ncr intrigues and facilitate a settlement by admitting the great preponderance of German commercial interests in the islands. It also urges Prince Bismarck to make serious and energetic representations at Washington on the subject. .
