INTERESTING MARRIAGE AT AUCKLAND.

The yjf. Herald says that the marriage of the retiring Lady Superintendent of the District Hospital, Miss ■ risp, to Dr. Bond, c£ the hon. medical visiting staff, took place at St. Sepulchre's Church. The event created great interest, owing to the popularity of the bride, and long before the hoar appointed the spacious church was icrowded to excess, the greater portion of the assemblage being of the fair sex. Outside the traffic was blocked on the Kyber Pass. In many respects the marriage was most unique, and perhaps in lume more so than in its simplicity. The ' bride had been about her official duties as ■ usual, and made the round of the wards, having a cheery word for the sick, and bade all good-bye. Shortly before the hour appointed for the marriage ceremony she drove over from the Hospital in a cab, accompanied by the Hon. Colonel HtaJUin, to the church, at the entrance rof which the nursing staff, some twenty .strong, in uniform, met the party, and officiated as bridesmaids. O ing to the crowded state of the church, Colonel Haultain had some difficulty in getting up the aisle with the bride on his ana whtre the bridegroom was expectant. She wore her hospital uniform, having on her left breast the medals for service in tbe Zulu and Egyptian campaigns, and one from the Turkish Government, while on her left shoulder she wore the Boyal Bed Cross awarded by her Majesty the Queen. Mr Trimnel, Mus. Bac. Oxon, organist of St. Mary's, Parnell, officiated as organist, and played a voluntary. The choir was in attendance, and sang " How Festal was the Day" before the ceremony, after which the Ten. Archdeacon Dudley . took the first part of the service at the chancel steps, Colonel Haultain giving the bride away. After the psalm was sung the Eev. W. Tibbs, incumbent of St. Matthew's, took the service and finished. The Archdeacon supplemented it with a short address. Not the least pleasing feature of the ceremony was the nuaber of convalescent and semi-convalescent hospital patients who were present to show ' their goodwill and respect for the retiring lady superintendent. Some of them had not been so far from the hospital for months past.
