[BY OUR SPECIAL REPORTER.] "Hi. Continuing the visits which during the past week have been paid to the various establishments in which a display of Christmas cards is made, we come next to that of MB A. WHITE. . Here Iβ to bo seen a very pretty collection of all varieties of Christmas curds taste* fully arranged. As in the other collections, the porcelain and opal pictures are in the majority amongst the moreexpea, sive kinds. Mr White has some beautifully painted female heads, birds, landscapes, and seascapes. There is a softness and artistic finish about these which make them perfect gems. Portraits o' notabilities and popular actresses are aim to be seen in large variety. Mr White, though a resident here for many years, has a strong pcncTuint for English scenery. Hence amongst his stock is to Dβ found numberless beautifully painted reproductions of some of the choicest bite of scenery in the old country. There is also a,very fine collection of the floral series on satin, &c. As to the booklets, their name la legion. Amongst the novelties displayed is the George Eliot calendar. This Iβ a charmingly got up booklet, with beautiful pictures on each page, and a quotation from the works of the author. To describe each of the series in detail would take too much space. Suffice it to say that oil are exceedingly pretty, and looking at tho way in which they are (*ot up, one can only wonder how, they are produced at the moderate price charged for them. One or two are well worth special notice, especially "Belle across tho Snow," a series of well - executed winter landscapes, and "Woodland Echoes." This hitter presents a complete foil to the former, &a Ft is a collection of upring-tide pictures. For the special delectation of children there are some excellent cards and booklets. Amongst the latter is what may be called an edition de luxe of nursery rhymes. A novelty in the cards if, whao are called the chorister series, which will no doubt be largely taken advantage of by members of different choirs wishing to send kindly greetings one to the other. Iv the ordinary cards Mr White exhibits a large variety, amongst others some very cleverly executed pictures of military life, the beet of which is the guard on duty in the barrack yard saluting the Christmas pudding borne by. the cook to the mess room. Another establishment at which there i» a pretty display ie that of MB CROOK. The speciality horc Is a nicely-executed •erieeof reproductions of English Cathedrals. The quaint old buildiugs, with their venerable appearance, are moat artistically done. There is also a nice assortment of English landscapes and floral crosses.
