SUPREME COURT.
CIVIL SITTINGS. Wednesday, October 10. {Before his Honor Mr Justice Ward.l The civil sittings of the Court were resumed at 3 p.m. KING V MAY. In this case Edmund Herbert King, of Rangiora, hotelkeeper, was plaintiff, and William Richard May, of Kaiapoi, Committee of one John Roberts, lunatic, defendant. The plaintiff sought to recover the sum of £87 4s 8& from the defendant for money lent and goods sold and delivered to John Roberts. The defence was not indebted as regards the sum of £40. Defendant paid into Court the sum of £47 3s Bd. Mr Helmore for the plaintiff; Mr Spackman for the defendant. Mr Helmore opened the case for the plaintiff, and called evidence. The following witnesses were examined for the plaintiff:—Messrs E. H. King (the plaintiff), H. Brown, and Mrs King. Mr Spackman opened the case for the defence, and called thefollowine witnesses: —Mrs Monk. Miss Roberts, Messrs J. R. Cooper,, W. Stapleforth, and W. R. May. Counsel having addressed the Court, His Honor gave judgment for plaintiff for £5 in addition to £46 0s 8d paid into Court. The Court then rose.
