Mr Patterson suggested that application should be made to the Sumner Town Board for information as to the probable annual cost of working the Board, and the probable revenue should also be ascertained before they decided to form a town district. After discussion, the amendment was put and lost by a large majority. Mr Bowbyes' motion was amended to read —" That in the opinion of this meeting it is desirable to form New Brighton into a Town district." The motion as amended, was put and carried, with four dissentients. Mr E. Sefton moved, and Mr Baynes seconded —" That a Committee be formed to define the boundaries of the proposed district, and get a petition signed and forwarded to the Governor, praying that the district be proclaimed." The motion was agreed to, and Messrs Curtis, Fryer, Geo. Hawker, J. Parry, C. Baynes, E. Sefton, and C. Foster were appointed members of the Committee. Those present agreed to guarantee the preliminary expenses. The meeting then terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman, and to Mr Sefton for the U3e of his room,
