RINKING.
The benefit at the Colombia rink to the manager and employes was well attended. A costume polo match was played, which created considerable amusement. In the mile race between A. G. Smith and L. Hinge the latter led from the start for about a mile and a quarter, when Smith forced the pace and passed Hinge. On entering the last mile Hinge made a game attempt to recover his position, but fell. He quickly recovered himself and without losing much ground, and in a few laps was again close to Smith. The latter being hard pressed, left the track when about seven laps from the finish. Hinge's time for the fail distance was 12min 48sec. The first mile was done in 4min 28sec, the second in 4min 18sec,and the third in 4min 2sec The winner was loudly cheered on finishing. The Palace Rink was well filled last evening, when Professor Gibson gave another of his exhibitions of fancy «Vwt~ lag. The Rink will be open to-day at the Waal boon.
