KAIAPOI WESLEYAN CIRCUIT.
■♦ — : The quarterly and annual Circuit meeting was held in the Wesleyan Church, Kaiapoi, on Wednesday. There was a large attendance of office-bearers from the several congregations interested. The Rev. P. W. Fairclough, Superintendent, presided. The returns of membership showed a total of 226. The balance-sheet presented a deficiency of £12 in the quarter's receipts. Very favorable reports were received of the inspection of the respective Sunday Schools of the Circuit. Mr Isaac Wilson was unanimously elected circuit steward. The Rev. P. W. Fairclough was unanimously requested to remain for the third year. To fill the vacancy caused by the removal of the Rev. J. T. Pinfold at the termination of term it was decided to invite the appointment of the Rev. T. B. RothwelL After lengthy discussion on the proposition That the Kaiapoi Circuit, as at present constituted, including Kaiapoi, Eyreton, Clarkville, Woodend, Waikuku, Sefton and Amberley is unable to meet its financial liabilities, and, therefore, this meeting requests Conference to divide the present circuit, constituting Kaiapoi, Eyreton, and Clarkville into one circuit, and Woodend, Waikuku, Sefton, and Amberley, into another," the motion was carried by a large majority, two of the northern representatives voting against it.- .It was resolved that in the event of ,the proposed division of the circuit being agreed to, the Kaiapoi minister give-services one Sunday in each quarter in the northern circuit. It was decided to hold the next quarterly meeting at Woodend. - Mr R. J. Alexander, who wished to be relieved of reporting for the official newspaper, was thanked for his past'services, and Mr G. A.
