bx Electric Tklkor—ph.—Copybiqht. [p__ p_XSS ASSOCIATION.] Received October 4th, 12.30 p.m. London, October 2. A deputation from the Committee of Audit* appointed in Auckland to investigate the affairs of the Bank of New Zealand, has submitted the present position of the Bauk to the chief financial houses, capitalists, and Bankin London. After a searching examination £200,000 of new capital has been privately subscribed by lending capitalists not hitherto associated with the Bank, including a director of the Bank of England, Glynn, Mills and Co., Lord j Hindlip, and others of tho highest) reputation. The additional capital was offered but declined. The policy of facing the situatiou boldly is approved in the highest financial circles.
[PRESS association teusgram.] WELLINGTON, October 4. The local manager of the Bank of New Zealand states that the quorum necessary for the meeting is fitly thousand shares, not five thousand, as in the report this morning, which must be a telegraphic error.
