In Cook Strait experienced nor'■westers, and when off the Brothers a heavy gale from the 5.2. was met with which lasted for ten hoars, the vessel running to the lee of Mana Island for ■shelter.- The gale moderated, and thence to arrival had N.W. The Sybil conies to ■ this part with a full cargo of guano, and is moored at the No. 4 wharf. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Maoapouri, Captain Logan, arrived yesterday morning at 9.13 o'clock from Melbourne via Hobarc and South. Mr C. H. Hudson, purser, supplied us with the following report of the voyage:—Left Melbourne at 6 p.m. on 23th September, passed Swan Island on 25th, and arrived at Hobart on .27th; left again same day, passed the ijolandere at 5 p.m. 30th alt., and arrived cx the Blaffat 4 a.m. on Ist October; left again at 4 p.m. same day, and arrived at Dunedin at 5.30 a.m. on 2nd inst.; left again at 2J3Q a.m. on 3rd inst. for Lytcelton, arriving as above. Experienced fine "weather to the BlufE, thence to arrival strong N.W. winds with heavy sea*. She ateacned for northern ports last night. The Union Steamship Company's s.s» Takapuna,CaptainGrant,arriTed yesterday morning at 7.15 o'clock, from Wellington, Ficton, and Nelson. Mr Masaey, purser, reports!— Left Nelson at 5 p.m. on 2nd inst., called at Picton, and arrived at Wellington at 9.45 ajn. on 3rd, left again at 2.45 p.m. same day for Lyttelton, arrivingas above. Experienced fine weather to^Wellington; thence to arrival strong . N.W. winds and heavy sea. At 4 p.m. she left for Danedin. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Koranni, Captain Ryan, arrived yesterday morning at S o'clock from Dunedin, via O&maru and Timaro. Mr Dale (parser) reposes:—Left Dunedin at 10 p. m. on the Ist last., called at O&maru and Timaru, leaving the latter port at 5 p.m. on the 3rd for Lyttelton, arriving as above. Experienced fine weather throughout the trip. At pun, she steamed for Wellington and Greymcath. For London via the Bluff the Colonial Shipping Company's s.B. Balmoral Castle steamed hence at 2 p.m. yesterday. Tbe s.B. Jane Douglas, for Kalkoora, got away on her usual weekly trip to that port at 6 p.m. yesterday. For London the barque Norman McLeod cleared at the Customs yesterday. She -will get away to sea to-day.
