Mr Balfour, Secretary for Ireland, in speaking at Glasgow, said it would be necessary to reconquer Ireland if it obtained a local Parliament. The Home Rule agitation was the daily bread of the Irish members. Received October 3rd. 1 p.m. London, October 2. Mr Balfour assured a large audience at Glasgow, that the treatment of Ireland by the Government was lenient, and the charges of cruelty towards prisoners were untrue.
