THE NOVEMBER SHOW.
The catalogue has just been issued of the annual show which takes place in November next under the auspices of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association. It contains a list of private prizes numbering forty-two, and since its issue one more has been received. The Canterbury Frozen Meat and Dairy Produce Export Company offer a special prize for the best lambs suitable for freezing for export. The catalogue comprises 45 sections, divided into classes. Of the latter there are 83 for sheep, 40 for cattle, 54 for horses, 12 for pigs, 2 for sheepdogs'., 7 for dairy produce, 7 for cured and preserved meats, 6 for new machinery and appliances, 1 for traction engines, 41 for New Zealand manufactures and produce, and a number of stands for implements, including dairy utensils and carriages. Among the competitions which did not take place last year are two trotting races, that commence at ten o'clock on Saturday, November 10th, and a trial of traction engines, provided there are three entries from different makers. The time and place for this trial has not yet been determined upon. Having in view the development of dairy factories special prizes are offered for the best collection of modern appliances for butter making in factories, and for the best method of packing butter for export. A special prize is also to be awarded for the best sheepshearing machine, subject to a trial on the ground, and a silver medal is the reward to be earned by the exhibitor of the best assortmentof bent timber for wheelwright and —achbui—ers* work.
