EAST MALVERN ROAD BOARD.
On Thursday the adjourned annual meeting of the ratepayers in the East Malvern Road Board district was held at Sheffield. About thirty were present. Mr Wm. Minchln, Chairman of the Road Board, occupied the chair. The audited accounts were read and laid on the table. A long discussion on them, the new road through Sheffield, and various other matters affecting the district, took up over ■two hours, several taking part in a rather heated debate. Eventually Mr Jebson, sen., moved —"That consequent of the many defects in administration, as shown by the account*, they be not accepted by the meeting," and drew attention to the expenditure under different headings, and advised handing over the whole responsibility to the Clerk, or merge the Road Board in the County Council. He thought the expenditure qn salaries and incidentals was oat of' all proportion to that spent on useful works. Some sharp passages occurred between some ratepayers regarding the conveyance of certain streets in Sheffield to the Board, but the outcome was resultless of any good effect or understanding. Mr Jebson's motion, on being pat to the meeting, was lost, ana the usual votes of thanks passed.
