RINKING.
The attendance at the Columbia Rink last night was very good Indeed. On Saturday evening Mr Coatello has arranged a one mile race for the Maori footballers. The practice of tbe match for the children at the forthcoming carnival will take place to-morrow morning. There waa a large attendance at the Crystal Palace Skating Rink, Sydenh am last evening, to witness the football match on skates. Among those present were several of the Native footballers. Nine men were played aside, the Sydenham Football Club playing against all comers. Ihe players themselves seemed to enjoy the new style of play immensely, though there is nothing in it trom which to obtain a lesson that would be serviceable in the legitimate game. One or two players could kick very well, but attempted runs, scrums, and line-outs nearly always resulted in a general scramble on the floor. The result was a decided victory for Sydenham, the score being 4 tries and a potted goal to nil. Donnelly potted the foal. T. Patterson secured 2 tries, and K. 'atterson and Miller 1 each. The rink will be open as usual to-day.
