London, July 10. The trade returns for June show that imports have increased by 10i per cent, and exports by per .cent. on the previous period. Received July 19th, 10.30 p.m. CHOERA REPORTED AT NAPLESLondon, July 14. It is reported that cholera has broken out at Naples. Received July 19th, 11 p.m. THE PAPAL RESCRIPT. London, July 16. The Papal letter was read in the Irish Churches yesterday. It declares that the plan of campaign is altogether an unlawful method of action, and is therefore forbidden. The rescript rebukes the opposition to the decision of his Holiness the Pope. ENGLISH PARLIAMENT. London, July 17. Efforts are being made to obviate, if possible, the autumn session of Parliament. OBITUARY. Capetown, July 16. The deatb is announced of Sir John Henry Brand of the Orange Free State. FRANCE AND ITALY. Rome, July 16. The Italian Government offer to include 150 articles in the commercial treaty existing with France, instead of 79 as at present. Received July 20th, 1.30 am.

The Presbyterian Council has protested against the sale of firearms to aborigines. PROHIBITION IN AMERICA. New York, July 11. The Education Committee of. -he Senate has adopted an amendment to the American constitution, recommend* ing that all dealings in alcoholic beverages should be entirely prohibited. ARCHBISHOP WALSH'S PASTORAL. London, July 15. Archbishop Walsh, in his pastoral letters, assures the Irish people of the Pope's sympathy and affection. A VESSEL ABANDONED. The barque Border Chief, bound from Sharpness to Melbourne, was abandoned at sea, and the crew landed safely at St. Helena. CANCELLED INVITATION. London, July 13. The Primate has withdrawn an invitation to a garden party at Lambeth Palace, accidentally sent to Colonel Hughes Hallett. THE POWERS AND THE POPE. The Powers have taken no heed of the Pope's threats that he will leave Italy. THE JOCKEY'S LIBEL ACTION. Wood the jockey has appealed against the decision awarding him a farthing damages in the libel action against the Licensed Victuallers' Gazette. PAUPER EMIGRATION. Six hundred pauper children have been sent as emigrants to Canada. ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION. In the House of Commons, Mr Smith, replying to Mr Cochrane Baillie, M.P. for St. Pancras, said the commercial aud scientific prospects of the proposed antarctic expedition were not j sufficient to justify the Imperial!
