UNITED METHODIST FREE CHURCHES.
The district meeting of the above churches commenced its annual sittings yesterday at 3 p.m. in the St Asaph street Church. The business meeting was preceded by a public prayer meeting. The following are the representatives from the various circuits : — Addington — Bey. J. Parkin, and Messrs 3. X. Brown, ,T. Thompson and T. Cutler. Auckland — Messrs Wm. Parkes, J. Glanville and T. T. Robson. Christchurch—Bev. H. B. Bedstone, and Messrs C. 11. Leadley, G. Bowron and B. H. Turner. Napier and Waipawa—Rev. J. Edwards and Mr J. Saunders. Wellington—Rev. C. Penny. Richmond—Rev. F. B. Button,and Messrs H. Robinson and J. A. Flesher. Oxford — Rev. J. J. Pendray. Rangiora—Rev. A. Peters, and Messrs Watson and Allington. Westport (No representative) — Together with the Rev. S. Macfarlane (connexional representative), and Mr Win. Flesher, District Seoretary. •*• """'
The Bey. H. B. Bedstone was elected Chairman to the meeting ; Mr "_*.. Flesher, Secretary; Messrs T. T. llobson and J. Saunders, Sub-secretaries; Revs. Penney and Peters, reporters to the Press; and Rev. J. Parkin and Mr Parkes, Precentors.
It was resolved that the hours of sitting be—Morning, from 10 to 1 o'clock; afternoon, from 2.30 to 5.30 : and that the public be admitted to all sittings except otherwise determined.
The following were appointed as the Financial and Stationing Committee:— Revs. Parkin, Peuney aud Edwards, and Messrs Brown, Leadley, Bowron and Saunders, together with the Chairman and Secretary of the meeting and the connexional representative.
A Convention was arranged for, to be held on Wednesday evening, commencing at 7.30, to receive spiritual reports from the various circuits.
