«. ; WELLINGTON RACING CLUB MEETING. [p-usss association telegram.] Second Day. WELLINGTON, December 1. The second day's racing of the Wellington Racing Club was held to-day. The weather was fine, but the attendance was not good. After the Hurdle Race, the Stewards called on Pell, the jockey of Reputation, to explain the running of his horse. The horse jumped the wing of the hurdle, and the jockey at once took him back and jumped the hurdle again. Pell* explained that after jumping the wing of the hurdle, Reputation ran inside the post, and that was his reason for going back. The stewards, after a short consultation, disqualified him. The amount put through the machine to-day was £3U7_, making _*-363 for two days. Results :— Local, Handicap of _o_oys. Second horse 5 soys. One mile. Sir J. McColl's Fabrication, <sst 71b (Bnckridee) 1 Mr J. Saunters' The Shah, 9at 71b (Cliflbrd. 2 Mr Peters' Smooth, 7st 111b .. .. (Peters) 3 Giriri, S3t 71b; Cloud, Bst 51b; and Voltigeur also ran. On the fall of the flag, Giriri went away witha lead of two lengths, which she maintained half the distance, when Fabrication passed her, and at the top turn Shah also came up. Fabrication led into the straight, where Clifford made his effort, but the weight told, and he could never get on level terms with Fabrication, who won easily by two lengths) Time, lmin 47secs. Dividend, £2 10s. HITRDLES HAXBICAP. Mr J. Jonc3* Rata, 9st 71b.. (Winteringham) 1 Reputation (10st 41b) was the only other starter. Rata, who was the favourite, led the whole distance, and won by over a quarter of a - mile, Reputation having baulked at the second from last hurdle. Time, 3min 56sec Dividend, £18s. The Hack Hurdle Race was won by Halicore, Piako 2, Loo 3. Four others ran. Time, 3min fusees. Dividend, £2 17s. St. Axdkew's Handicap, 100 soys; second - horse 10 soys. One aud a quarter miles. Mr D. ' Betting—2 to I agst Laurel, 3 to 1 Strenuous, 5 to 1 Rumour and Administrator. After several attempts the field was sent away on fairly equal terms. Laurel was at the head of affairs after going a hundred yards, but then Clifford steadied her, and Little Scrub took up the running, with Kangaroo well up. Passing the stand the first time Administrator rushed to the front, with others in a bunch, but only a length behind. By the river Little Scrub again went up, and. passing Administrator, lea along the back of the course, when he increased his lead to four lengths, Administrator lying next with Kangaroo and Laurel racing for third position. At the top turn CU-ford moved on Laurel and soon got on even terms with the leader, Rumour also improved her position and took third place. Laurel had a little the best of the race entering the straight, but Little Scrub, favoured with a light weight, stuck gamely to his work, and tbe result was a capital finish. Mel. Ule, 93t, also ran Melville was a warm favorite. Scraps and Fabrication made all the running, the former having a little the best of the race m the straight, and won by a length. Shah and Strenuous were scratched. Tongariro was the favorite iv the machine. A capital start was effected. Forester and Little Scrub raced neck aud neck to the turn into the straight, with Tongariro and Rumor close up. Forester led into the straight, but Humor, on the outside, came very fast, and at the distance, was at head of affairs. Tongariro and Little Scrub also passed Forester, but could not catch the leader, who won by a length. Time, lmin lOsec. Dividend, £21 ss.
