; 1 » "■■■■■ It will be in the recollection of our readers that at the opening of the session of the Synod of this diocese held in October last, the Bishop, in his address, stated that he took this opportunity of informing the Synod that it was bis intention to resign his office at the end of the year 1888, and that he proposed convening the Synod for the next session so soon as convenient after Easter that steps might be taken for the appointment of his successor. On a subsequent date the. Synod passed resolutions as follows:—L That the Bishop be respect.ully requested to appoint a commission to prepare an'dlay before the next session of fcheSyn od returnsshowing the gross income derivable from the income account and t-fc-*"" Fabric Fund Account" of the Bishopric .Estate, and to make recommendations as to the disposal of the moneys shown.,to. ; be so available.. 2. That the B_shop.be. respectfully requested to cause to be forwarded to each member of Synod acopy of the report of the Commission i one month at least before the meeting of l SynooV In : accordance with the resolution |of the Syttod his Lordship has issued a ! Commission to the following laymen:— ! The Hon. Hi B. Gresson, Chancellor of the Diocese,. .Messrs Maude, Harman, HarI greaves, Malet and Cook, for carrying oat ■ the purposes expressed in the resolutions, and has requested them to forward their report containing the necessary returns, with their recommendations for the disposal of the revenues of the Bishopric Estate, on or before the Ist day of -day, 1888, in order that in accordance with the request of the Diocesan Synod, a copy of such report may be forwarded to each member of Synod-one month at least before the meeting of the Synod. His Lordship has appointed Mr F. deC. Malet, i Chairman and convener of the Commis- [ sion.
