TRAMWAY EXTENSION.
As will have been seen by reference to the report dE the last meeting of the City Council, an application has been made for concessions by the promoters of a newline of tramway, via Armagh street; to New Brighton, joining on to the present line of the New Brighton Tramway Company. ' The matter has been referred to the" "Works Committee, and it may be noted that a similar application to the Lin wood Town Board haslbeen granted on similar conditions to those imposed with respect to the other cases. : The promoteis have succeeded iv makingfavor- ; able arrangements with the proprietors of the land through wLich the proposed line will pass. There are two small pieces of road under the control of the Heathcote Road Board, with regard to which concessions have been applied for. Going eastward, the proposed line will commence at Oxford terrace, near the bridge over the. Avon in Armagh street, and thence/crossing Colombo street and proceeding along Armagh street to the Canal Reserve; from thence thb line will be continued to the commencement of the present New Brighton line.
