SUMNER TOWN BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday last. All the, Comrnfeslonere were present. The. foilowtagcorresponae'nee was "dealt with:—From St. Albans Boro-gh -Council, asking the Board to co-operate in endeavoring to obtain legislation to get a portion of the fees collected by the City Council from auctioneers, cabmen, earners, &c paid to suburban boroughs and town districts. It was decided to co-operate. From Mr Spear, resigning his position as ranger and poundkeeper, as be contemplates leaving the district. The resignation was accepted, and the Works Committee were authorised to make fresh arrangements. From Mr J. M. Glennie, re cattle at large. This letter produced an animated discussion, as numerous complaints have been made. The Clerk was directed to write to owners of cattle and horses and warn them that in future all herding or tethering of animals about the hat must be stopped. It was decided that all rates not paid by Ist November should be sued for without further notice, and that the "Works Committee be authorised to expend not more than £5 in erecting seats on the JSsplanade. After transacting a quantity of routine business the meeting adjourned.
