AMATEUR ROWING ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of delegates from the Canterbury Rowing Clubs was held on Saturday evening, at the Commercial Hotel, to take into consideration the question of joining the proposed New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association. The following were present :—Messrs J. O. Jones, E. M. Boufton (Canterbury), -F. Fuller, T. L. Smith (Union), J. Winterbourne, T. Keetley (Cure, Kaiapoi), J. W. Malcolmson and J. H. Galbraith (Lyttelton). The following resolutions were carried : —

** That the delegates assembled recommend their respective Clubs to join the Association, in the event of the rules, &c, being so amended as to provide for the following alterations:—

(1.) "That the amateur definition takes its rise from the date of its adoption by the Association."

<_.) "That the junior definition be restricted to youths under twenty-one years of age." (*D "That Clubs be represented at U-eetias-s of the Association on the basis

lof one delegate for each Club, icreepective lot membership." ' . [ <**•) " That at all regattas held under the ; rules of the. Association, the races be. restricted to boats carrying coxswains, single sculling races excepted." . . '■ , - With regard to rule 10 of tbe Association, under which its afHliated Clubs are expected to obtain permission of the Committee to enable them to compete at regattas hot rowed under the auspices of the Association, it was resolved to" have this amended to provide for suctt permission being obtained from- a majority of local delegates. Mr Jones was deputed to forward the above resolutions to the Hon. Secretary of the Association at Wellington.
