ELECTIONEERING HOAX.
—•—— [press association telegram.] DUNEDIN, October 6. An explanation has been made in connection with the charges of bribery made in connection with the Waihemo electorate, from which it appears that the whole matter arose out of a misconception. A man did receive a telegram in which an offer was made, but it turns out on inquiry being made that the telegram was not genuine, but was apparently a practical ; joke. Some one having obtained a tele- ! graph form wrote the offer oh it and posted it. and the person who received it thought the telegram was a genuine one until he made inquiry. '
