♦ [press association telegram.) NAPIER, October 7. The day being fine the attendance at the Show was very large. The cattle exhibits were excellent. Mussulman, the bull sent from the West Coast, which won the champion prize in Sydney, was only placed third, Mr H. R. Russell getting first and second. Foul Play was champion Of the thoroughbreds, with Patriarch second. The hack and ladies' horses were not up to the average. The dairy exhibits were very good, while the poultry and dogs were numerous. The prize for the best collection of implements was gained by Jones and Sons, Waipukurau, while Faulkner of Napier secured most of the prizes for buggies and carriages, beating Messrs Cousin and Atkin, of Auckland. The cattle show was not numerous, except in the classes for youngsters, where some excellent shorthorn bulls and heifers were shown by N. E. Beamish, Hon. H. R. Russell, and Rev. S. Williams. Very few thoroughbred horses were on the ground. The yonng stock were only fair, chiefly by Vasco de Gama. Draughts were in greater strength. Mr Ormond's Blackleg taking tbe championship. The miscellaneous classes for horses produced a large number of entries. Pigs were not very good. The show of implements was better than in previous years, including exhibits made by Booth and Macdonald, Christehurch, P. and D. Duncan, Christchurch, Reid and Gray, Dunedin, and "Wallace, Auckland, but in nearly all cases locally-made articles carried off the awards, . Jones and Sons, Waipukurau, taking nineteen first prizes besides minor awards and the champion prize for best collection on the ground. The show of dairy and i farm produce was not up to the average.
