PIONEER BICYCLE CLUB.
A committee meeting of the Pioneer Bicycle Club was held last nightJWr A. Lowry, Captain, in the chair. It was resolved to have 200 books of rules printed, and that each member be supplied with one. Among other improvements to the clnbroom, it was considered advisable to subscribe to the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, and Graphic, which will be filed. Arrangements were entered into to conclude with Fred Wood (the Professional Champion of the world) to visit Christchurch on JSoxing Day to compete in the races of the Club. It is proposed to hold a two days' race meeting this year. Club runs were fixed for the month'as follows:---0th, Lancaster Park (football match), via Opawa: 10th, Kaiapoi; 23rd, Tai Tapu; 30th, New Brighton; each day at- "i p.m. The Hon. Secretary reported that Messrs Standish and Preece had presented the Club with a photo of the opening meet on Saturday, the 3rd. This was accepted with thanks. Mr. J. H. Parker offered a prize of £3 3s for a road race. This *as offered as a prize for the Hurunui road race last year, but fell through, owing to the bad roads and weather. ' It was now derided to make it a fifty mile handicap, over the Christchurch -Doyleston roads, on September 26th, starting from the Carlton at 2 p.m., to finish at the Riccarton Hotel, the handicap to be sealed and handed to a re'eree, to be appointed, who «ill open it on the' arrival of the competitors. The entrance fee was fixed at Is. This concluded the meeting.
