The Lord Mayor’s Committee has decided to apportion the subscriptions of the Queen’s jubilee fund as follows: 30 per cent, to the British Museum, and 70 per cent, to the Imperial Institute. The Orient Company are willing to accept an eight years’ contract for the conveyance of mails at a fixed subsidy on the basis of their original demand. The Peninsular and Oriental Company will agree to a contract for any term between seven end ten year*, provided tint the subsidy is computed on a sliding on the basin- of their last offer.
