THE INDUSTRIES OF NEW ZEALAND.
Mr W. N. Blair, C.E., delivered an ad dress on the above subject at the Oddfellows’ Hall last nignt, to a fairly numercus audience. Mr i. Jenkins, President of the Industrial Association,.under whose auspices the lecture wa3 delivered, occupied the chair. On the platform were Messrs Montgomery, Jones, Bee e, and Taylor, M.H.K.’s, members o! the legal and mercanti'e professions, and a number °* Apologies were read for ihe of Messrs W. C. Walker, M.H 8.,E. Allan, W. Chrystall, H. W Peryman, the Mayors of Christchurch, Sydenham, and Kaiapoi, andtheßev. J. Elmslie. The Chairman briefly introduced Mr i Blair, who had. he said, promised some j time ago that be wcutd delver a similar address to that given at the inauguration • of the Manufacturers’ Association. J [Mr Blair then read his paper, which was ( tf a lengthy and elaborate character. W e regret that owing to pressure on our space we are comp lied to holdover our summary At* B the* 1 conclusion of his address Mr Blair vas loudly arplauded, and on the motion oi Masers J. L. Fcott and ■ • Kibk, he wa3 accorded a very hearty vote O, Mr ”la’ib acknowledged the compliment, and moved a vote of thanks to the Chairman, which clot ed the meeting.
