Mr W. N. Blair, C.E., delivered an ad dress on the above subject at the Oddfellows’ Hall last nignt, to a fairly numercus audience. Mr i. Jenkins, President of the Industrial Association,.under whose auspices the lecture wa3 delivered, occupied the chair. On the platform were Messrs Montgomery, Jones, Bee e, and Taylor, M.H.K.’s, members o! the legal and mercanti'e professions, and a number °* Apologies were read for ihe of Messrs W. C. Walker, M.H 8.,E. Allan, W. Chrystall, H. W Peryman, the Mayors of Christchurch, Sydenham, and Kaiapoi, andtheßev. J. Elmslie. The Chairman briefly introduced Mr i Blair, who had. he said, promised some j time ago that be wcutd delver a similar address to that given at the inauguration • of the Manufacturers’ Association.
