At a meeting of the Opposition yesterday, a Committee was appointed for the purpose of submitting a programme for the general elections. Sir P. Jennings intimated that he would be unable to act as leader of the Opposition. It is probable tbat Parliament will be dissolved on Tuesday next. THE WEATHER. A one hundred and fifty yards race, between Hutchens, the English pedestrian, and Malone, the sprint runner, took place yesterday, and resulted in a victory for the former. Another death from smallpox occurred at the quarantine station. CONSECRATION OF A BISHOP. Perth, January 23. The Rev. Dr. Gibney was consecrated Bishop of Perth to-day by Cardinal Moran, who met with a splendid reception.
