The prisoners who were arrested in connection with the Newton outrage were brought up at the Police Court to-day. The case for the proseoution broke down, and the prisoners were consequently discharged. Received January 22nd, la.m. THE SMALLPOX OUTBREAK. Melbourne, January 21. The President of the Board of Health has written to the Government, urging the establishment of a federal quarantine station. The smallpox patients at Sorento are progressing favorably. No fresh caies are reported.
