FROZEN MEAT AND PRODUCE.
TO TKE BDJTOB Of THI PBBBB. Sib,—By an error of my own I did not attend the Frozen Meat meeting on Wednesday. H»d I been there I most likely would have proposed a resolution somewhat as follows : •' That it is desirable to form a company to make a compact with one or more companies in London or elsewhere to provide plenty of slow steam freight at Id per lb; also, in connection therewith, to make such arrangements to dispose of the same, either by having frozen meat shops and other | New Zealand produce, or by other arrangements which may be found desirable to ensure the disposal of a large regular fixed supply to be agreed upon by the individual members of the Company here; to be a limited liability proportionate to guarantee arrangement." Tnis, I think, could easily be done in connection with the Belfast Freezing Company. It might involve the question, but not necessarily, of starting a new Shipping Company. The question forces itself as a question of life or death to the trade in such an obtrusive manner. As to the question of the disposal of the produce in London and elsewhere, I have been of that opinion from the first beginning of the frozen meat trade. To follow out my plan it would require a suitable energetic business man to go to London to make arrangements with certain small preliminary I hope yon will not charge me with unduly trenching on your space.—Your*, &0., Mabmadukb Dixon. West Eyreton, Dec. 21th, 188 C.
