ELLESMERE ATHLETIC SPORTS.

This annual gathering was held on the Leeston A. and P. Association's ground on Boxing Day. There was a large attendance, and the weather was all that could be desired. The publican's booth was .under charge of Mr Britton.of the Boyal. The refreshment and luncheon booths were under charge of Mr J. H. Doyle, and did » good trade. Tee Garrison Bsnd enlivened the proceedings throughout the day. The events were keenly contested, the men s hurdle race being won by a boy of thirteen years of age named J. Taiaroa.
