i m The elxth annual exhibition of aquatic ■aoata under the anapioss of the Cnristchuroh Amateur Swimm ing Club was held tm %»--daj atternooD •_ the West Chriatehnrch school bath, in the presence of a large attendance of visitors, moludingmaoy of the fair sex. Mr P. C. Hawley judged the races, and Sir __ Francis (eaptaio) started the compet-ton. Appended is a list of the events:— _Sprina>bc-rd Airlsg; fl-s competitors. G. T. Tab ami Ist heat. B. WUson first; Snd -sat, E. Evans first; Brd heat, E. A. -tag-lan- first. The final between the three firsts resulted in fsvor of __£___, Fl-_gins, fonr competitors ; W. Sneddon, 33ft, fteat. 100 yards sfstnh race; fonr started. B. K. Spencer got away well at first, and maintained bis lead to tbe finish: A. Dallas second, J. Alexander third, sad B. J Wilao-las-Lo—fdire. W. ineddon. 50yds, first. The diva waa two lengths ot the bath, and iocl-dad a torn. Back race: fiTestarted. G. T. Booth, who swam from scratch, won a good race; J. Alexander SSMXIud j 50 yards scr-tob. race; eight entries. O. Tnrp-t was first, A. -00-mc- seeend, B. B M Eraas third. Five staztee*, ot whom W. aned-on. who had a haadicap, was —nit, J. Alexander seoond. and A. Dallas third. Fk—— a(. A.
