RICCARTON PARISH FETE.
Attracted by the tempting pmgramme- / set forth by the management and by the lovely weather, a large number ot ve.ple visited the Kicoa.ton Pariah Fete, whioh was held in Mr Harper's beautiful grounds atul«m, which were thrown open to the ■ pub In. .- here were many devices on the grounds to tempt the sixpences aad -■ shil ings cf the viaitors. The cdrcna. waai«- - --w_o«8 and menagerie were all weU attended, and the antics of some ' or the amateur clowns wonld havedone credit to pr-ee-anala. The refreshment tent, under tha managemaat of Mesdamea Bowen, Maude, Taylor, Melush, and others, was deservedly weU patronised an was alto the fancy goadt tent, fliltd with a- collection of things oat> ful and ornamental, und.r the in antgomant of Mvsdam.B O. C Hi we?, Wilson, and Ford.. The warmth of tht, day cam m " quite a rush on the tent where strawberries and cream aadioea were dispensed by the Misses Bowen and Maude. The prodace stall, presided over by Bin Fenoty and Mies Wilson, and th« flower stall, by Mesdames Bodney and Wigc*—.cams in for a good, share of patronage. A DttCh auction waa conducted toward* the close of the day by a well-knowa Leal knight of the hammer ia his usual tivelvaad emitting ttvle. The Addington Band wat on the lawn, and gave a number t f selec-OBt very well.
