Sheep—A large entry came forward, Dothfat and store pen* being fairly filled. There was a good attendsnoe. but the demand for mutton being confined to the local trade, and a Blight speculation inquiry by graziers, was insufficient to cope with such a foil market, and a heavy fall in values resulted, ranging from 2s to 3s per head. In several instances salesmen withdrew consignments rather than submit to the drop, doubtless anticipating that upon resumption of operations at the freezing works price* will recover. The entry of fat cattle was not a vftry large one, onr own supply being augmented by a draft of about SO bullocks from the North lelaad. The demand was fairly (good, but late values were not upheld, prices ranging from 21s to 83s per 100 lb. The North Island bullocks sold up to £11 per head. Onr sales comprised— S steers at £7, 2 at £7 10s, 3 at £5 6s, 3 heifers at £6 ss. 2at £6,3 at £7 10s, 3at£7 7s 6d, lat £815s, and lat £10 ss. There was aot a large entry in the store cattle market, but a decided improvement was noticeable in the demand, and all linee, they were mostly young cattle, were sold. Three-year-old steers sold at £4»2e 6d, £410e, and £S 15s; eighteen months to two-year-olds, 4Ca and 49a; yearling cattle, 24s to 30s. There was not much doing in the dairy cattle market. Leeston Live Btock Market—The usual sale at above township took place on Friday laat, and only a week having elapsed since tbe previons sale, the entries were hardly so numerous as usual. Taking ail things together, however, business and prospects all round teemed brighter, and most lines of both sheep and cattle owners before the day was over. On account of numerous esteemed clients we sold crossbred hoggets at from 4s 7d to 89 6d per head, fat sbeep up to lls 9d, lines of young cattle from 21s to 47s 6d per head, onr entries being on behalf of Messrs John Coe, J. lend and Property—During the past week we have diapcaed of by private sale the farm of 47 acres, the property of Mr Stephen T-~-vi»»««i _ situate in Shand's Track, for £7 6s per acre, the purchaser being -onr wel'-known ana esteemed friend and client. Mr Patrick Henley, near whose farm the present property stands. Sheepskins, Bides, Fat, Tallow, *c.—At onr yards this day we held onr usual weekly sale of above, submitting an average entry. A good attendance of fellmongers mastered, and with the combined good reports from England business was livelier than for some lrng time past. We sold crossbred skins at 4s 6d, 4eßd, 4e lOd, Sβ, Sβ Id, 5s 2d and 5s 3d; merino skins at 4a 4d. 4s 6d, 4a 7d, 4s Bd. 4s 9d, 4s 10J. 4s lid and 5s each; country skins at from Is »d to 2s 10d. Onr entry of fat we cleared at id. Id and lid per lb; rendered fat at 12s per cwt; and cikee of tallow at 18s 8d per cwt; the highest price that has been for a> lone time recorded. Oar entry of hides and calfskins we cleared at late rates for immediate delivery. Poultry, Produce, *c.—At oar yards on Saturday last we had a very heavy entry of poultry of ail kinds, the demand however was none too brisk, only low prices was the order of the day. anything very good however stm commands fair values. We cleared our entries as follows:—Best table fowls, 2b 9d to 3» 6d per pair; medium and inferior ]* S M; dock * *•* freely at from 4a 3d to *" M. »»d 5a per pair; geese from <s to 8a ; and tarkejsfrom fs to 15s per pair.
