SOUTHBRIDGE TOWN BOARD.
The last meeting of the present Board was held on Monday evening, all the members being present. Correspondence was read from Mr C. Clark offering to fence portion of Hastings street. It was decided to recommend tbe new Board to open up the ditch in Smith's extension. It was decided to put a temporary footbridge on Brook Btreet ia the Bellfleld extension. The Works Committee reported that O'Conrwll street should be formed and shingled, and the ditch curved down to the stream, and that Brook street be formed the same as Broad street. The question of calling for tenders for a Clerk was discussed, but it was thought that it would ba best to let the new Board do that. The Clerk offered to act, till a new one was appointed. The Clerk was instructed to call a meeting of the new Board on Wednesday, at 7-0, for the purpose of appointing a Chairman and* carrying out the requirem—its of the by-law for the appointment of a Clerk. Several accounts were passed for payment. Before closing the meeting, the C_Ai__an thanked the members for the courteous way in which they had treated him. He was proud to see the improvements that had been made ia the township. The main street, in particular, had never been in better order. He thought the Board had spent their money judiciously, and none wag spent but what was necessary. The meetings, as a general rule, had been well attended, and the business well considered. He wished to thank the Clerk, who had assisted him to a great extent. Be hoped the new Board would carry ont the work as well ss the present one baddorie. Mr SntPSOK moved a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the Clerk, aad the Works Committee. Mr Wa_c_—? seconded, and it was carried. The meeting then closed.
