[Before B. Beetham, 8.M., and J. Carrie, J.P., Eeqrs.] Tb_ Maclkak Pic___ Compast.—ln the matter of the voluntary winding up of this Company, Messrs W. P. Warner, B. J. Leahy, and H. Sawtell were appointed by the Court liquidators, with a commißSion of 5 per cent. October 12th was also fixed as the day for the adjudication and settlement of accounts, before whioh day the creditors must prove, in order to entitle them to a participation in the dividends. Pbosxco-iok o___b__».—ln the matter of a civil case, J. Q-. Bussell * Mary Ann Buesell and J. G. BuaselL senr., heard last week, Mr Beetham instructed Inspector Pender to institute a prosecution for perjury a gainst the defendants on account of certain sworn statements made by them in the course of the said action.
Pawnbbokxb's License—A renewal of license was granted to Charles Lezaid, pawnbroker, carrying on business in Manchester street south, Christchuxch. Civil Cases.—On the application of Mr Stringer, a re-hearing was granted for September 20th of Cross v Barker, a claim of £12 6s for goods supplied, heard on Friday, and then decided in favor of plaintiff. The ground of the application was that fresh evidence in favor of the defendant had been discovered since the judgment. Bad—iffe v Badoliffe, claim £43 15s. Mr Stringer for plaintiff, Mr Weston for defendant. Plaintiff sued his brother's wife, who has a separate estate, for work and labor done and goods supplied to defendant's order. The defence was that the work had not been either ordered or done. Judgment was for defendant with 308-j. In Wilson and Son v Bird, claim £69 16s 7d, Mr Stringer appeared for the defendant. It was proved that plaintiffs were attempting to act for one Chill—igwort- without the requisite power of attorney, and they were nonsuited with costs. Fletcher, Humphreys and Co. v Sorrel was adjourned till September 14th.
