SOUTH RAKAIA.

This Committee met at Bakaia on Thursday. Present—Messrs Holmes, Lyttelton, Allan, Chamberlain, and COfittr. Mr Lyttelton was elected Chairman. *Mr J. C. Bell, Deputy Official Assignee, applied for the transfer of the license of the Chertsey Hotel from Sophua John Larsen to Henry Childs. The application was granted. The police reported favorably on the three licensed houses in the district. The Chairman said he was Borry to hear that Constable Bourke had been removed from the district. He was a very efficient officer, and he (the Chairman) would very much like to have his removal re-considered by the Department.
