COURTENAY.

A meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday, February 9th. Present—Meat rs T. H. Anson (Chairman), J. Qough, A. McNae, and J. Brabazon. The Clerk reported that the rate book was ready to be signed. It was resolved—That a rate of one-eighth (J) of a feenny in the £ be struck for the year ending March 81st, 1886, and made payable on March let in one payment at the Board's office. Correspondence was read as fellows, viz.— From the Bank of New Zealand, stating that the terms they would allow for the Board's account for the ensuing year would be the same as laet year. From the same, advisingthat the Board'efunds had been disposed as requested. From the Chief Surveyor with approved plans of road proposed to ba closed between E.S. 30260 and 30401. From the Silwyn County Council, forwarding map showing extent and boon- I dary lines of proposed rTaunakariri waterrace district, requesting the same may be exhibited at the office of the Board till March sth next. From Mr J. Holmes, forwarding cheque for 465 16s, for land of closed road near the Hawkins railway bridge $ also accepting land of closed road near Bongos, in exchange for land alongside the railway line, now used as a road. From Mr F. Brittan, asking permission to erect wire fence on road frontage of Bee. 1488, in oonsequenoe of a considerable portion of his fence adjoining having been destroyed by fire, also offering to lease the former reserve. Leave to fence granted From the Property Tax Commissioner, with statement of values, for exhibition at the office of the Board for fourteen clear days. From J. Shekels, complaining of stray stock on roads near Charing Cross making the roads unsafe for traffio after nightfall. The Surveyor was instructed to call the Banger's attention to the matter, also to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands for authority to impound stock from the unoccupied portions of river, bed in the district. Accounts amounting to 4109 12s 4d having been passed for payment, the Board adjourned till Tuesday, March 9th next.
