The Hospitals and Charitable lostituturns Board met to-day, and re olved to levy contributions from local bodies at the rate of a halfpenny in the £ on the value Ito let for four months, to the end of the financial year. It was resolved not to consent to the separate incorporation cf the Southland Benevolent Institute, with a view to the District Board taking up the work. It was stated that the Benevolent Institution had expended .£3666 during the last year. At a public meeting to-night it wsa resolved to continue the Southland Hoe- j pital, Invercargill, as a separate institution.
