THE ECLIPSE OF THE MOON.

The penumbra first touched the moon about 4-0 p_m., and by a quarter to six, when abereal contact began, it cast a luge irregular shadow on toe shining globe. The eclipse waa never total, but : »bout a quarter past seven there was onty adender creecent visible, and there was little more light than is generally given by the stars on a fine frosty night. A little before nine the shadow paesed off, and by five minutes past ten the eclipse was over. At Oxford, -Bangiora, Amberley, and Kaiapoi the Weather wa3 clear, and tbe progress of toe eclipse was splendidly clear throughout. fPBJESS ASSOCIATION TXLBG_A_.| EOKITIKA, September 24.
