SuPSBMB Coubt.—The Court daring yesterday was engaged with a case of die pute between two farmers, whose land adjoined, at Bennett's Junction.ae to the filling up of a ditch made jointly, by them. The plaintiff Bought to recover .£2OO damages, and also prayed that an injunction might be issued restraining the defendant from obstructing'the flow of water. His Honor, on the facts, decided that the plaintiff was not entitled either to the damages or the injunotion, and entered up judgment for the defendant, with costs on the lowest ecale. The Court will re-open at 1015 a.m. to-day. Opawa Bxrui Club.—This Club has eecured a splendid range of 600 yards in the valley at Hillsborough, north of the Waterworks Beservoir. Mr Mensiea has very kindly given; the Club the free use of part of his land, whereon two butts have been erected The site is very much superior to that need by the volunteers situate in the same valley, as a much better light is obtained, and the targets are on a better level. The Club targets are of the latest Wimbledon putern, vie, four feet equare tip to and including 300 yards, and then six feet square. The targets used are of canvas, and revolve, and are immeasurably superior to the iron ones, as a perfectly clean target is always maintained, and a greater rapidity of firing is allowed, nor is there much danger to markers. The Club opens the season on Saturday nest at 2 p.m. Bictcltjto. — Seven members of the Pioneer Club journeyed to Bangiora on Wednesday evening, to attend a concert held to augment the track fund of fhe North Canterbury Bicycle Club. Two members started at 5.30, the others at 6.45, the latter reaching their destination within two hours. After the concert the yisitora were shown over the track, which i* getting rapidly completed, and from the favorable position, and the amount of care and expense taken in its formation, it should be among the beat bicycle tracks in the colony. The return journey was commenced at 12 o'clock, town being reached at 2.20 a.m.| The roads being in excellent condition all the way, the evening favorable, and the hospitality of the N*.C.B.C. first-rate, made the run abcut the most enjoyable of the season. QaRXBAi. Goedoh.—Mr J. Crewea le<* tared is the Oddfellows' Chamber List night to a moderately huge audience on " General Gordon, and the Egyptian Policy of the Gladstone Government." Salvation Abht. — The Ashburton branch of the Salvation Aruny had a monster gathering on Tuesday evening, the occasion being a farewell tea to Major Pollard, who is about to visit Queensland. Some 300 persons sat down to tea, and the barracks were again crowded at the after meeting, when addresses were delivered by Major Pollard and others. St. Mart's, Addikqton.—A concert, conducted by Mr U. Wells, was given in St. Mary's schoolroom on Wednesday evening hut. Mrs Q&rrard, Miss Sears, and Messrs Joseph, Gray, and Adley contributed conga and duets; Messrs Alpeis and Adley two dialogues, and Mr Button's string band played three selections. The programme was an excellent one, but the audience was not so large as might have been expected. The object was to augment the funds of St. Mary's choi-. Tinwald Racing Club—The Tinwald Racing Club has decided to amalgamate with the Winslow Racing Club. It is probable that a race meeting will be held on New Tear's Day. Hitherto a meeting has been held at Winslow on New Tear's Day, and another at Tinwald abjut the end of April. Both meetings have been eucceseful, and pleasant little gatherings, but in view of the numerous raoe meetings annually held throughout the county it has been wisely decided to amalgamate the Winelow and Tinwald Clubs, and hold one good meeting. Wobking Man's Club—The Variety and Combination Troupe belonging to the Club entertained an audience of come 200 Sirsone in the Recreation Hall last night, essrs Ashford, Hobbs, Wilkine, Sinclair, Askey, Gent, Glanville, and Oppenheim contributed eongs ; the troupe, a chorus; Mr Sinclair, a banjt solo; Mr Carr, a hornpipe} and Mr Mitchell, a jig; each performer receiving a good measure of applauee. Ii view of the possibility of -many being unable to obtain Feats tomorrow evening, it has been decided to repeat the opera on Monday evening. As to the performance it may be noted that Mr Arthur Toweey has been assiduous in his efforts to make it a success, and, judging from the way in which the rehearsals have gone, no doubt the audience on Saturday evening will be able fairly to accord a meed of praise to the exponents of the various characters. This jotted the eff wheel on to and over the top rail of the iron railing, and the cart was in some danger of being further backed into the river if the rail gave way. The occupants got out cf the vehicle, several willing handa held the horee, and the vehicle was returned safely to the road way.
