The length of line proposed to be made by this Company is two miles and sixty-one chains, which added to the line under the control of the City Council will bring New Brighton Beach within five miles of Christchurch. The Directors have placed themselves in communication with the Aron and Heathcote Road Boards, from whom they hare received assurances of co-operation in the undertaking, and with whom they are completing satisfactory arrancements. The owners of land along the line oi tramway have agreed to give the land required gratis, end deeds of conveyance tc the Company will be prepared at once. The Directors feel assured that the close proximity into which the Tramway wil bring the increasingly popular Watering Place of New Brighton to the Metropolis; justifies them in placing the Company ot the public marker. The Provincial Directors have everj reason to believe that satisfactory arrange ments can be made with the Mayor anc City Council for working the two linei together, and it is thought that passenger* wul be enabled to reach New Brighton ii less than half an hour fjom the heart o the City, at a very moderate cost. With the object of giving all classes o the community an opportunity of enjoying the invigorating sea air, the Directors hav< determined to make the fares as low as itii possible to do, and yet render the under taking remunerative to the proprietors, an< they feel sure that the consequence of lot fares will be crowded trains and profit t< the Company. ' It is almost needless to draw the atten tion of the public to the advantages Net Brighton possesses over other waterini places near Christchurch in the extrem< purity of the air, the. grand beach, and th< abundant supply of artesian water.
