WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

DUNEDIN, January 29. It was resolved that permission be granted to the Bey. W. Gittoa to remove from Otamatea to Auckland. The Bey. W. Morley read a report of the Church properties. Messrs F. A. White, Stevenson, Blow, Cock, Dawson, and Ford were appointed District Secretaries for the ensuing year. Mr Morley brought up a report and balance' sheet of the Church | Buildings and Loan Fund. It is hoped to increase this sum to JBIO.OOO. Mr Morley washeartily thanked for his services, and reappointed general Secretory. The report of Committee was brought up by the Bey. Mr Martin. On the appointment of Connectional Evangelist it was agreed to set apart a minister for this work. Three names have been selected for submission to the Ministerial Session.. Messrs C. W. Turner, Harris, Mouldey and Wood were appointed a Church Building Committee. It was decided to allow Kaiapoi and Woodend circuits to remain separate, Kaiapoi and Bangiora to render financial aid to Woodend. A deputation from the Ministers* Conference, consisting of the Revs. Dr. Bo3eby, A. North, and Beckenham, addressed the Conference, and were heartily received. The Rev. Mr Fairclough and Mr Wood replied. The final reading of thestation sheat will be taken to-morrow. DUNEDIN, January 30. On the motion of Mr J. T. Smith, it was resolved to set apart one Sabbath in the year for temperance sermons. At the commencement of the afternoon session, the President, on behalf of the Conference, presented to the Secretary a handsome leather travelling portmanteau in recognition of his secretarial services. The Secretary expressed his warm thanka for the unexpected gift. . . . The balance-sheet of the Foreign Missions was then read, which showed a large increase upon the income of the previous year. On the motion of Bey. Alexander Beid. a motion in favor of Bible Beading in State Schools was passed, and a deputation appointed to wait on the Minister of Education. Bothweil and Mr Morley, Chairman of the District, DUNEDIN, February 1. The Wesleyan Ministerial Conference resumed on Saturday morning, and after a short sitting the mixed Conference then resumed. The principal business was the discussion of the following resolution, moved by Mr Edson : —" That this Conference, while loyally submitting to the decision of the late General Conference on the subjects remitted from this Conference, considering their importance aa bearing upon the efficient prosecution of our work, deeply regrets that in so many instances the decision was adverse to the matured and strongly expressed wish of our Church in thiß colony." This was after debate carried by 22 votes to 6. A motion was also carried protesting against the action of the present Ministerial Conference in postponing the appointment of a connectional Evangelist, and on the motion of the Rev. M. Morley all the resolutions relating to the matter were rescinded. The Bey. A. Reid waa appointed principal of the Three Kings Training Institution, Auckland. The Conference resumed at 7.30 pan., and the journal of proceedings having been signed the session ended.
