KAIAPOI BOROUGH SCHOOL.
The monthly meeting of the Committee of this school was held on Monday evening. Present—Messrs E. Parnham (chairman), Coup, Pashby, Bobins, Moore, Humphreys and Wilson. Letters were read from the Board of Education in reference to the appointment of the Chairman and the appointment of a pupil teacher, also notifying the list of candidates nominated for election to fill three vacancies on the Board. The Committee unanimously resolved to vote for Messrs G. Booth, W. Montgomery and S. C. Fair. Accounts, JB4 17s, were passed. It was decided to again bring under the notice of the Board the [urgent necessity for additions to the Bchool building, and the Chairman and Mr Wilson were appointed a Committee to represent the matter. The return of the number of scholars on the roll gave 499; the average attendance, 377. Mr F. Young intimated his resignation as a pupil teacher, and W. Batch was recommended for the vacancy, but being under the age, it was decided that the Board be communicated with on the matter. The Committee then adjourned.
