BOROUGH COUNCILS.
SYDENHAM. The Sydenham Borough Council met last night. Present—The Mayor and Ore. Bowden, Ash worth, Gkdhill, Forrester, Day, Jones, Langdowu, and Comber. It was resolved to hold a special meeting on the 23rd inst. to consider objections lodged against the widening of Rogers street. The Works Committee's report dealing with matters of detail was considered and adopted. The receipts wore .£l5O 5a 3d; credit balance at Bank £485 3a Gd. A.ooounts to the amount of -£90 7s lid were passed for payment. Cr. Forrester referred to a rumour current in the town that the borough had lost heavily through the, bankruptcy of London Bros., who lately tenanted the reserve*. As the rent of these reserves formed part security of the proposed loan, it was likely that the rumor, if unoontradicted, would affect the loan injuriously. The Chairman eaid the event referred to had really improved the borough's financial position, as not only had it lost no money by the late tenants, bat the reserves had been re-let at a higher rent. The meeting then adjourned.
