OUTRAGES IN NEWFOUNDLAND.

A despatch from St. John's, dated January 6th, gives particulars of a furious, Orange outbreak at Bay Boberta on the preceding day. The New York Bedeinptorist Fathers, who were holding a mission at that place, were besieged and imprisoned in their dwellings. An Orange arch waa erected near the Catholic Church, and hundreds of armed Orangemen paraded the streets. When intelligence reached St. John's, the United States Consul demanded from Governor Glover protection for the lives and liberty of United States citizens. A meeting ef the Executive Council was summoned, and the British corvette Temedos ordered to Bay Koberta, and a large body of police despatched by special train to the same place. The Orangemen remained masters of the situation for some time, in>■ spite of all these preparations. They prevented the removal of the arcH and flaga, and surrounded the Boman Cath«lic Church, and stopped. Bishop McDonald from holding service. TheEedemptorists finished their mission on the 7fctr, and left fox St. John's, where they were .received amid waving flags and enthusiastic ' cheering. The Soman Catholics assembled at various etoppingplacea of the train, and on being interviewed the Fathers said they completed their mission at bay at the point of the bayonet and the muzzles of Gatling guns, and, further, "We have been in many parts of the world, but a more consummate crowd of ruffians and cowards than, the Orangemen of Bay Roberta we have never encountered. They marshalled their forces from all surrounding neighbourhoods to try and intimidate two lone unarmed missionaries; but our firmness triumphed, and eucceea, rewarded us." Another outrage was reported from Carbonea on the 9th by which Dr. Richard Dunn, a Boman Catholic medical practitioner, at Broadare, was set upon by about 100 men and boys, pelted with stones, and stabbed and robbed of every valuable.
