The following is the Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, the 9th instant:— The prin ipal feature ef the week has teen the cheering news from the London market of a steady rise in the value of •wheat, and farmers are now looking for- ■ ward with more hopes for the approaching larvest. It would be premature, however, to expect any material advance in this Basket yet awhile. A fair demand still estate, at current rates, for sound milling wheat, winter sorts. Oats are not eagerly sought after, bnyere being content to sapply themselTes from hand-to-mouth, in anticipation of the new crop. Transactions in barley are over for this season. There appears to be every prospect of a grand crop of gcas3 seeds, cocksfoot especially. Uy advices received from the Peninsula we - are assured that both quantity and quality ' £m excels last season's growth, and given favorable weather, cutting should comaaance about Monday week. Dairy produce still remains quiet, although there is
a little better enquiry for butter. Quotationstodate:— . , "Wheat—Tuscan, nominally, 3s, no demand ; Pearl and Hunter's, 3a 2d to 33 4d, f .0.b.; chick feed, la 6d to 2i, f .o.b. Oats —Prime milling, 2a 8d; bright snort feed, 23 6d ; long oats, 2s to 2s 3d, f o.b. Barley—Malting, nominal value, 3s 6d to 4s; feed, 2a to 2s 3d, Christchurch. Butter and Cheese-6d to 6*d for the former; the latter, 4d to 4Jd, f .0. b.
